Just Excellent!! Lovely situated natural resort with extremely friendly stuff! I love this place and I love this hotel. Very clean, very good meals. I did not find better solution in Koh Lanta than Sayang beach bungalows. Otherwise finaly not for anybody who do not like nature, and who´s missing swimming pool. But excellent for families and ecologicaly friendly people - you will be in nature but still have nice comfort. Thank you very much
Very good, excellent, prompt! Thank you very much

upon reaching i realised the room i booked was quite not what i had expected. so i tried asking for a upgrade. i asked the manager if i were to upgrade to a deluxe room if i could have a discount. she ignored me and did not even reply me. furthermore i left my belongings in the safety deposit boxes at the counter and i lost 1000 baht. but thankfully they paid me back but i could tell that they weren t as friendly as they were to me after the incident. book some where else. try the nakarama resort on long beach. looks awesome!
great.

Me and my two friends really enjoyed our time at Sayang. The restaurant was great, the staff was friendly, and the beach was almost all ours! Great breakfasts and clean rooms. I particularly loved that the grounds were natural and not fussy. Made the whole experience very genuine.
Easy and reliable.

Was a nice resort in general but we were disapointed with our bunaglow as we were facing a building site and it did not have hot water which I would not have minded had we not paid over the odds for it. We ended up using the 3 nights I had paid for by upgrading to a better bungalow for 1 night. Compared to other places on the island it wasn t good value for money. The guy that booked us in was also really grumpy so first impressions weren t great. We found a lovely bungalow on the next beach with air con, hot water, TV etc for 800 baht called Lanta Emerald. They are really friendly there (ask for Toffee or Tom) and you can get good quality cheap accomodation with a chilled out bar that is open late.
Very good no problems at all.

Staff was friendly and helpful. If I may give one positive critisism, it would be that they can improve on their bar offering. The food was good though and enjoyed the massage and foot scrub!! We stayed at a few places on Lanta and surrounding islands and will have to say that if you are on a tight budget, the room is really good value for money. (garden view fan bungalow). Planning to go back next year again!
Fast and efficient! No problems whatsoever.

Sayang Beach Bungalows, Koh Lanta Yai, Phra Ae Beach
After much intensive searching, we decided on Sayang Beach Bungalows based on website photos and traveler reviews. I must admit that when we first arrived, we were not wholly satisfied with the bungalow. We were given an old superior aircon bungalow ( old being the staff s description) and it was, indeed, old and rickety, with the light of day visible through wall and floorboard cracks, an ancient, clogged showerhead, and a building that shook with every step we took. Let me say that I have stayed in many such places during my various travels, and I have no problems with it except that I ve never had to pay so much for what is really a very simple bamboo hut. There are other, newer bungalows on the property that are more solid, I m sure, but this was the only one available to us as a family of 4 in need of the bunkbed it contained. (side note: I understand that construction of many new bungalows is in Sayang s master plan.) ANYWAY, we did do some scouting of other establishments on the same beach, but decided to stay at Sayang because of its strengths, and here they are: 1. The beach scene is wonderful. Big, tall, shady trees to lounge under, a volleyball net where we enjoyed watching pick-up games involving staff and guests every afternoon, a massage hut for those so inclined, and a smooth, sandy beach, not rocky even at low tide. 2. Good food at the restaurant. Both the Thai and Indian dishes were excellent. Our children were great fans of all the fruit lassis on the menu and we were spoiled for choice. The restaurant staff were unfailingly friendly and polite, as were the bar staff. The restaurant is a popular one on this beach, serving guests from many different establishments in addition to the bungalows own customers. DOWNSIDE -- service was excruciatingly slow. The first night we seated ourselves a bit late -- 7 p.m. -- and waited almost 2 hours to receive our food. We are ok with beach time , but our hungry kids had a hard time waiting so long for dinner. We worked around that by seating ourselves earlier and sometimes leaving one parent to order dinner and sip a drink while the other parent showered the kids and cleaned up, coming to the table just as the food was served. We also tried other good restaurants on the beach. 3. Breakfast buffet good. I have read other reviews that complained about the buffet, but we always turned up right as the food was being served and were always satisfied. I don t know what it s like for later risers, but there was a lot of good fresh fruit, yogurt, muesli, different styles of eggs, toast, muffins, pancakes, french toast, and several Thai dishes such as fried rice and noodles. Fruit juices, tea, coffee, and milk were also included. No complaints about that. 4. Great place for families -- we met many other families staying here, with children of all sorts of ages, ranging from babies up to early teens. Our children really enjoyed the atmosphere here and made many new friends from all over the world. 5. Clean bungalows: despite its shortcomings, our bungalow was kept very clean, with clean sheets and towels every day, by the very friendly and hardworking housekeeping staff. They promptly installed mosquito nets on the bunkbed when asked to do so, and just generally did a very good, efficient job. One last point -- like most establishments, Sayang Beach Bungalows will book whatever services or excursions you wish to take part in right from their reception desk, but after some shopping around, we found their prices a bit expensive. For example, they were charging 1500 baht per person for a day trip to Koh Rok, but we found an agent in town who sold it to us for 1250 baht per person. For a family of 4 it meant a significant savings and was worth the trip to town. Another example was that their charge for laundry was 90 baht per kilo whereas on the road into town there were places advertising laundry service for 30 baht per kilo. Of course there is the CONVENIENCE factor, so we went ahead and paid the 90 baht, but if you are going into town anyway, it is something you might consider. Overall, despite some negative aspects, we were very satisfied with our stay at Sayang bungalows and recommend it as a good place to stay on Phra Ae beach, especially for families.
No problems -- staff answered e-mail queries promptly and attended to concerns efficiently.

When we arrived we were disappointed by the bungalows. They were very ramshackle and not terribly clean. We even went so far as to look around the nearby resorts and considered changing. But we decided just to stay for various reasons I will explain. First the bad.... The shower and bathroom in our bungalow was horrible. Zero water pressure and the shower head was cracked and bad. The toilet was fine, but the bathroom wasn t very clean. But the biggest problem with the bathroom was the shower. The room size was okay. We had a deluxe aircon bungalow (the smaller type with no bunk bed - room R3). They put in a fold up bed for our 3 year old and our 1 year old slept with us in the queen bed. The bed was nice and firm and had a nice big mosquito net. We had to ask for a mosquito net for the child bed, but they put it up for us. Some of the bungalows looked newer, but I m not sure. The restaurant was decent quality but the service was quite slow unless you arrive really early for dinner, plan on waiting over an hour (or 2) for your food. This was a big problem for us as we were a group of 4 adults with 4 children aged 1yr to 8. Try getting 4 kids to sit at the table and wait for 2 hours for food! The atmosphere at the restaurant was good though. and the fire thrower was a big hit with the kids. All in all I would say that the restaurant was adequate. There were several nearby resorts that had better food and faster service. The GOOD things.... GREAT set up for beach activities for kids. There were big trees at the shoreline that kept at least a little shade on the beach until around 11 am. There aren t very many rocks in this part of the beach. Nice lounge chairs. Volleyball net. This was really one of the nicest locations on the whole beach with good balance for adult and children. Also, the staff was VERY friendly and pleasant. Overall, we had a great holiday though I probably would not stay in this resort again - unless I could be certain of getting a newer bungalow (though I don t know for a fact that they are any better than the one we had).
very convenient

We had a great time at Sayang for 4 nights. Didn t see a single bug in the room or bathroom (the bathroom has an opening in the roof-keep that door closed and the air conditioning is awesome) The staff was friendly, massages great, located on a great stretch of Long Beach. The breakfast is buffet style. The restaurant was great. We tried a few others along the beach-everywhere has simliar menus-Sayang was always full...Would definitely return...already miss those sunsets.
no problems
